Nonaka was born in Asakusa in 1949, where the atmosphere of old Tokyo called Edo still remains, and grew up watching the work of his neighbors' printer, engraver, and woodblock print artist. Therefore, his work cannot be described without mentioning this soil of sensitivity and the ukiyo-e tradition.
This work is pure abstraction, painted with original paints on handmade Japanese paper from Kadoke, Niigata Prefecture, one of Japan's leading producers of washi paper, with the masterful brushwork found in Japanese ink painting.
